  • 9:00am – 9:15am Welcome
  • 9:15am – 12:15pm Machine Data 101: Turning Data Into Insight

  • Description:
Machine-generated data is one of the fastest growing and complex areas of big data. It's also one of the most valuable, containing a definitive record of all user transactions, customer behavior, machine behavior, security threats, fraudulent activity and more. Join us as we explore the basics of machine data analysis and highlight techniques to help you turn your organization’s machine data into valuable insights. This introductory workshop includes a hands-on demonstration of Splunk’s technology and covers use cases both inside and outside IT.
  • 12:15pm – 1:30pm Lunch & Sponsor Presentation
  • 1:30pm – 2:30pm Delivering New Visibility and Analytics for IT Operations (Hands-On)

  • Description:
If you’re just getting started with Splunk, this session will help you understand how to use Splunk software to turn your silos of data into insights that are actionable. In this session, we’ll dive right into a Splunk environment and show you how to use the simple Splunk search interface to quickly find the needle-in-the-haystack or multiple needles in multiple haystacks. We’ll demonstrate how to perform rapid ad hoc searches to conduct routine investigations across your entire IT infrastructure in one place, whether physical, virtual or in the cloud. We’ll show you how to then convert these searches into real-time alerts and dashboards, so you can proactively monitor for problems before they impact your end user. We’ll also demonstrate how you can use Splunk to connect the dots across heterogeneous systems in your environment for cross-tier, cross-silo visibility.
Don’t forget to bring your laptop and follow along for a hands-on experience.
  • 2:30pm – 2:45pm Break
  • 2:45pm – 3:45pm Security Session: Get Back to Basics and Strengthen Your Security Posture

  • Description:
Learn ways to gain visibility and control of your organization’s security posture and answer fundamental questions of “what, who, when, where, how and what do I do next.”

A “single source of truth” can help security teams answer these questions quickly and effectively, helping make better-informed security decisions. In this session, you will learn how to:
    • Analyze existing security technologies to gain end-to-end visibility from a central location
    • Apply four basic, straightforward methods to immediately help improve posture
    • Improve how you handle alerts and incidents by developing an investigative mindset
    • Streamline and operationalize how teams verify, get and stay prepared, and reduce risk
    • Orient teams around an analytics-driven approach to SecOps – from monitoring to detection to IR
  • 3:45pm – 4:00pm Closing
  • 4:00pm – 5:00pm Happy Hour
